Dipping Apples

Made a caramel dipping sauce for apple slices. It was a success with both kids and myself. While I do believe apple slices can stand on their own, dipping brings another level of fun for all ages.

I started with a recipe from Ree Drummond, but altered slightly based on what I had in the kitchen. I’ll post the link at the end.


1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup heavy cream

4 tbs. butter

Dash salt

1 tbs. vanilla extract

I mixed all ingredients except vanilla in small saucepan over low medium heat for 5 minutes then added vanilla. Stirred for another minute then took off heat.

Directions say to put in fridge to cool. I poured some into two ramekins for kids and put in freezer for a couple minutes then took it out, stirred, was warm and drippy but fine and they loved it.
